About Us
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur includes the
original Hotel Majestic which is documented as a national heritage
site. This colonial structure was built in 1932 and became one of
the great hotels of Kuala Lumpur in its time. An icon of Malaya’s
boom years leading to World War II, the hotel came to be the place
for glamorous social events, government receptions and the residence
for prominent international visitors. The Majestic Hotel Kuala
Lumpur is positioned to share the glamour, heritage and success of
its predecessor as a YTL Classic Hotel.It is the only hotel in Kuala
Lumpur to be included in the Leading Hotels of the World luxury
hotel collection. The affiliation verifies that the hotel meets a
demanding set of quality standards which serve as the benchmark for
the luxury hospitality industry, putting it in the company of some
of the best hotels in the world.The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur is
now established as part of LHW’s family of iconic and legendary
hotels which include The Ritz London, The Pierre in New York City,
Hotel le Bristol in Paris, and Villa d’Este in Lake Como, Italy.
Built in 1932, the original Hotel Majestic was designed by the Dutch
architectural firm Keyes and Dowdeswell for the Trustees of the
Estate of Loke Wan Tho, the youngest son of the businessman and
philanthropist Loke Yew.Constructed in a hybrid of neo-classical and
art deco styles, the 51 room hotel sat on a commanding hilltop site
facing another of Kuala Lumpur’s famous landmarks, the Moorish style
railway station. The main building is characterised by tall white
classically proportioned Roman columns and detailed cornices. The
curved driveway and covered Porte Cochere contribute to the sense of
grandeur.The hotel catered to every whim and fancy of contemporary
society. For the first time in Malayan history, modern sanitation
was introduced in all rooms, with hot and cold water, showers, and
long baths in 18 rooms, considered the height of luxury in its
day.Custom designed furniture, silverware and furnishings imported
from England all added to the sumptuous surroundings. A special
feature was the roof garden, with a dance floor and seating for 350
guests. Artistes from all over the world performed at the hotel,
including popular acts from Hollywood and the Coliseum in London.In
its heyday, The Hotel Majestic was the largest and grandest hotel in
Kuala Lumpur, unrivalled for its prestige and luxury. Favoured by
the colonial elite and prominent visitors, she was the venue for
extravagant parties, Sunday curry tiffin lunches and that most
European of traditions, the tea dance. By the 1970s, however, the
hotel had lost its lustre, giving way to newer, bigger and more
luxurious hotels. Saved from demolition by the government, she was
gazetted as a heritage building under the Antiquities Act. At the
end of 1983, the last guests checked out and the hotel became home
to the National Art Gallery from 1984 until 1998, until it relocated
to its current premises.YTL Hotels was then entrusted with the
restoration of this national treasure, a project the Company
undertook with much pride.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is housed in the Majestic Wing and
the Tower Wing, separate buildings linked by a glass enclosed
air-conditioned walkway. The Majestic Wing is the original historic
hotel building and the 47 luxurious suites exude old world elegance
and impart a sense of history. Despite the vintage charm, the suites
also feature tastefully modern furnishings, a perfect mix of past
and present. All suites enjoy 24 hour butler service. Choose from a
Colonial Suite, Governor Suite and the most opulent of all, the two
Majestic Suites.The Tower Wing features 253 guestrooms and suites,
and complements the original building in the art deco style with the
use of dark marble and polished chrome. The difference is subtle yet
distinct, with a more contemporary and sophisticated feel in the
design and furnishings, including plush carpeting and elegant four
poster beds. Room categories include Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites,
Grand Suites and Premier Suites.
MAJESTIC WING
The Majestic Wing is the original historic hotel
building and the suites echo the art deco nuances of the hotel.
Timber floors are overlaid with tufted carpets in warm colours and
luxurious art deco furnishings feature throughout. The black and
white chequered tiled bathrooms feature claw-footed bathtubs and
separate showers. All Majestic Wing suites are provided with 24 hour
butler service. From a perfectly pressed suit ready for an important
meeting, to a booking at The Majestic Spa, no request is too small
or unattainable no matter what the hour of the day. Our butler
service ensures that unique preferences are understood and addressed
flawlessly. Amenities included are in-room continental breakfast and

COLONIAL SUITE

spacious bedroom with walk-in wardrobe. The sumptuous ensuite
bathroom has a separate rain shower and claw foot bathtub.
TOWER WING
The Tower Wing houses the majority of the Hotel’s
plush guestrooms and suites, and complements the original building
in the art deco style with the use of polished chrome and jewel
veneers. The bathrooms are delightfully decadent modern glass
enclosed sanctuaries with dual vanities, a separate rain shower and
large free standing bathtub facing a wall-mounted television for
those long bubble bath soaks at the end of the day. All rooms and
suites feature complimentary WI-FI.
DELUXE ROOM

CONTANGO
Located in the Tower Wing, Contango is a luxuriously
designed contemporary restaurant featuring an open kitchen
interactive dining concept with a seating capacity for 250 people.
The cuisine, freshly prepared to order, ranges from Western with a
pizza oven and Churassco Grill to Chinese, Japanese, Malay and Thai.
A 2000 bottle wine cellar includes the exclusive Opus One vertical
collection of wine created through a collaboration between Baron
Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi.
COLONIAL CAFE
The Colonial Café recreates the atmosphere of the
halcyon days of the planters of Malaya and offers authentic
classical cuisine from the colonial era. Plush red leather chairs,
crisply starched white tablecloths and timber paneling reinforce the
colonial feel. Located in the Majestic Wing, it seats 120 both
indoors as well as in outdoor covered courtyards.
THE BAR
The Bar is a central focus in the Majestic Wing with
dark panels, mirrors and brass, and where you can enjoy a Stengah,
Gin Pahit or Sling just like the planters of old. The gold-leafed
domed ceiling is an original feature of the historic hotel. Come
nightfall, nostalgia fills the air as the descendants of the
legendary Maestro Alfonso Soliano, a family whose musical traditions
date well back into the nation’s history, entertain with their
classic renditions.
THE TEA LOUNGE
The elegant Tea Lounge in the Majestic Wing is open
to the breezes off the lawn fronting the hotel. The old-fashioned
grid ceilings feature classic cut-glass lighting with antique brass
fittings. Cosy arrays of comfortable arm chairs with subdued
lighting from table lamps provide the perfect setting for English
Afternoon Tea with a Malaysian twist.
THE ORCHID CONSERVATORY
Showcasing a hanging garden and orchidscape
within a glass atrium, this botanical wonder is the only one of its
kind in the country. The Orchid Conservatory features a seasonal
range of phalaenopsis orchids; with thousands of stunning
large-petaled blooms displayed in a re-creation of their natural
habitat. As the seasons progress, so do the variety of orchids on
display.Bookings may be made to enjoy Afternoon Tea, intimate

THE SMOKE HOUSE
Within The Smoke House is an elegant private dining
room which comes with your own personal Chef, who will work together

The resplendent pillarless Majestic Ballroom seats
1,200 for a banquet or 1,500 theatre-style. A large pre-function

Malaysia will enhance every event or celebration. 17 elegant

MAJESTIC BALLROOM
The Majestic Ballroom provides a magnificent

function spaces in Kuala Lumpur, it seats 1,200 for a banquet or

The Boardroom in the Majestic Wing evokes the
nostalgia of the colonial era. Dark timber floors, a touch of art

warm ambience of this private meeting room. Comfortable seating for
twelve persons surrounds the boardroom table and butler service is
provided to cater to your every need. A set luncheon is served in
the Colonial Café of this historic hotel, carrying through the feel
of yesteryear.

The 13 meeting rooms suit small corporate events and
social functions ranging in size from 20 to 120 guests. The elegance
of the rooms is enhanced by natural light and complemented by the
